Current Students

New this year, I will be making a holiday recording of each student to share with family and friends, introducing group performance classes, hosting a spring studio recital and more. The recital will celebrate the opening of the new harp studio.

Group Performance Class, Holiday Recording Project & Listening Assignments

New this year, this class is designed to help students grow as performers. Students will play at least one piece from memory in the company of fellow harp students. They can feel at ease while playing only for their peers. Students will receive coaching on stage presence, public speaking and tips to manage performance anxiety. All students may participate. Classes meet in Carrboro during the fall and spring semesters. A minimum of 4 students must sign up, or the class will be cancelled. There is no additional cost for participation.

During the final week of the fall semester, students will be recorded for the holiday recording project. Recordings will be uploaded to a private YouTube channel for you to share with family and friends.

Throughout the year, students will complete listening assignments using YouTube and Spotify. Students will become familiar with harp repertoire, composers, concert artists and musical style.

NC Harp Ensemble &  Recitals

Students will be invited to participate in the North Carolina Harp Ensemble. This is a great way to meet and hear other harpists! Concerts this year are on November 20, 2016 and April 1, 2017.

A Joint Studio Spring Recital will be confirmed later this year featuring the combined studios of Jacquelyn Bartlett, Grace Ludtke & Leigh Stringfellow. Upon completion of the new harp studio, a spring studio recital & reception will be announced.

Tuition & Missed Lesson Policy

HARPIST5-CHN-121514-HLL.jpg

Tuition may be paid monthly or by semester. Monthly tuition is due at the beginning of the first lesson of each month. Tuition may be paid by cash or check. Online credit card payments are accepted at www.LeighStringfellow.com/Purchase and transactions are managed by stripe. Semester tuition is due by the first lesson of the semester and may be prorated for students beginning after the first week of lessons. Full semester tuition is payable by check only.

Students will need to purchase replacement strings for their instrument and purchase music books recommended by Leigh. Books are typically available from Vanderbilt Music or Lyon Healy West.

Lessons are scheduled at the beginning of each semester or month at a mutually agreeable time. Missed lessons may only be made up in case of illness, emergencies or other important matters. Missed lessons must be scheduled within two weeks. Lesson credits are not available.  Students from the Cary studio may opt for a double lesson, or a lesson at the Carrboro studio. Please notify Leigh at the beginning of the month to schedule lessons around vacations. No shows will not be made-up, refunded or credited.

Occasionally, even harp instructors fall ill. If Leigh Stringfellow cancels your lesson due to illness or other circumstances, she will make it up during ‘make-up week’ in the final week of the semester.

If a student wishes to discontinue lessons mid-month or mid-semester a refund will not be issued except for extenuating circumstances such as medical leave, family emergency or relocation.
